Crossing the Digital Divide
Did you know that carrying a backpack that weighs more than 15% of a student’s body weight can lead to serious back problems now and in the future?
The availability of digital test has dramatically improved access to educational materials for students who are blind and visually impaired. Educators are faced with the challenges of locating these materials and teaching their students how to access them. This one and a half day workshop, presented by Gary Ray, Karyl Loux, and HumanWare representatives will address what digital text is, where it can be found, and how it can be accessed with assistive technology. Through discussion, demonstration, and hands-on activities, participants will search for and download materials using the Victor Reader Stream, BrailleNote, Victor Reader Soft, and computer screen access programs to access materials.
Again this workshop is for AER members only. If you are an AER member and would like to register for the class, contact mary.k.davis@ncmail.net
